  • http://www.alternative-windows.com/tabtop-curtains.htm there is loads of instructions on here on how to make tab curtains, hope it helps good luck :0)
  • I am also having difficulty finding anything on making back-tab/pole-top curtain panels- not even a pattern available for sale. There is no problem with available information on making top-tab panels - BUT that is not what I'm looking for. Back-tab curtains are a sophisticated, modern style and apparently not "hot" yet. I am going to buy a back-tab/pole top panel from JC Penney to look at and will make my own pattern.
  • me too. it's hard to find how to instructions for this kind of tabbed panel. I finally found one at the store that I could look at. it seems to me that you place the tabs on the back of the drape. sewing the tab in place at the bottom at the same time as you sew the top "hem" down. that means you would sew the top at the top fold prior to putting it all together. measuring, marking, pinning-in-place and having a large enough area to lay out the fabric is important. Try this if it makes sense to you. 1. measure the length and width you want the finished product to be 2. add 4 inches for the top and 4 inches for the bottom hems 3. cut straight 4. fold down 4 inches for the top and press (gives a crease so you can see where the top is) 5. fold in 1/4 inch on the bottom (to finish the bottom edge of the top hem) and press 6. lay the panel out flat on a firm surface with the right side of the panel facing up 7. measure the positions where you want to place the tabs 8. lay the tabs with right sides together against the hem area of the panel (pointing toward the hemline) 9. pin the top of each tab in your measured position using the crease for the top hem as a guide (if you sew the tabs down in the crease, the stitching won't show on the right side of the panel) 10. sew each tab in place on the right side of the panel 11. press the tabs down to the direction of the panel and pin the hem in place, pinning through the bottom edge of each tab. 12. stitch in place with closely matched thread 13. press - hang - mark and finish the hem Tabs 1. cut a strip of fabric about 6 inches wide(I used a strip the length of the window-some left over and 6 inches wide) 2. fold the strip and press in half 3. sew a narrow seam on the free edge of the strip to make it into a tube(about 1/4 inch from the raw edge of the strip) 4. turn the "tube" so the seam is on the inside of the tube and press again to make the seam edge flat 5. cut 4 inch tabs from the tube-the length you want
